Lush

Posted by Ray @ 8:02 pm

I don’t usually wax lyrical, but the bougainvilleas are in bloom, and it’s a sight to behold. Around the National University Hospital, and all along the East Coast Parkway, the roads aren’t green anymore - they’re purple. And it’s beautiful.

The most striking thing you’ll see is along the Rocher Road flyover. Approach it from the east side (from Changi), and as you go towards Marina South, look to your right. Framed against the background of our giant durians and ugly buildings you’ll see a row of evergreen trees. By a marvellous quirk of nature, the one closest to the flyover has had a bougainvillea climb up all the way up its foliage.

The result is a defiant explosion of vivid, living purple amongst the drab green and grey of our urban landscape… and it’s gorgeous.

Anyway, the comic should be up later in the evening. I saw the pencilled version, and I think Zeng drew this one real purty. Hopefully the coloured one will be as good.
