I want one!

Posted by Ray @ 7:56 pm

The XBox 360 was just unveiled on MTV. Kotaku has a write up and pictures, but after they mentioned the feature list I kind of stopped reading.

Native HDTV support! (Yes, games in High-Def)

Wireless network support! (You can play movies/music off your computer’s shared folders)

3 PowerPC cores running at 3.2GHz! (Mac users may put on smug expressions of superiority. Okay, okay, so it’s only 1 CPU, but still.)

Couple that with XBox Live (the only console multiplayer environment to actually get it right) and you have, in your hands, the Ultimate Gaming Machine. I don’t own an XBox, but if they make the XBox 360 backwards-compatible, I know what my next purchase is going to be.

Ah, competition. Now we wait for E3, and see what Sony has in store for the PlayStation 3.

(Purely off-topic: speaking of Macs, I’ve just installed Mac OS X Tiger on my iBook. Let’s see what this baby can do.)

  2. Somebody never partition his drive beforehand… heh heh heh.

It’s pretty cool so far… stuff actually feels faster! And of course, spotlight is wonderful. Have fun with your Tiger.

  3. Seen the specs for PS3 and Revolution yet? If you thought the xbox 360 is something, PS3 will throw that down fast.

  5. Could someone tell me the relevant specs for 360 and PS3? Is 360 a half model or a full model, that has been reengineered from scratch?

Pardon my ignorance, but what is revolution? I am not a console chap, so forgive me.

    You still suck though.

  6. A spec comparison is somewhat limited - raw power isn’t the be-all and end-all. A feature comparison would be more apt, and in that regard the PS3 has the XBox360 beat in all but the online multiplayer component.
