But we’ve been doing that for ages

Posted by Ray @ 8:34 pm

British soldiers-in-training are being subjected to the “undignified prospect” of shouting “BANG! BANG!” [link via Boing Boing] as they participate in military training exercises. This, because their Government ran out of money to purchase blanks to fire.

In the UK, this kind of thing is a big deal.

But hor, the SAF has been doing it for ages!

We should reassure our former colonial masters that shouting “BANG! BANG!” is actually a very effective form of training. Hell, I’ve killed plenty of “enemy soldiers” with my “stimulated fire” (thank you, 1WO Lim). My officer even enforced the kills (”Oi! C***bye! You die already la, shuddup!”).

So you see, it’s perfectly acceptable to be short on blanks.

(Just FYI, SAF soldiers don’t need to shout “BANG! BANG!” because our gahmen got no money to give us blanks. No, SAF soldiers shout “BANG! BANG!” because we’re damn trigger-happy and fire all our blanks before the exercise is done.

And then, we like to complain about cleaning the resulting carbon-scored weapons ^_^.)

BANG! BANG!
