More Esperance Star Pictures
Posted by Ray @ 1:25 pmThe DVD containing the rest of the Esperance Star photos arrived. So here’s another gorgeous picture-laden post of underwater life!
Graced by the presence of a celebrity
Kenny from South Park decided to pay us a visit, and wish us luck for the coming dive. Shortly after this photograph a freak lightning bolt hit him, throwing him into the open sea, where he was devoured by sharks. Poor Kenny…
Let’s play spot-the-fish…
Can you see it? It’s a flounder, expertly camouflaged in the sand.
This is by far the most beautiful picture of brain coral I’ve seen.
An underwater mushroom?
Nasty spines
Obligatory duuuuuude~ quote
Turtles are everywhere in Australia! They’re always fun to see because they’re ridiculously adorable. This one was hiding under a rock, peering out fearfully at us, poor guy.
I am a slug
These are quite common on the ocean floor. I believe they’re some kind of sea slug.
This guy will grow up to be a badass mutha’
A baby rockfish (stonefish?). This was a very lucky shot, because normally they’re expertly camouflaged, like so:
Let’s play spot-the-fish again!
Touched by His Noodly Appendage
Jeremy had a deeply religious experience with the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and is now a True Believer.
Go on, touch me. I dare you.
The Lionfish is always a photographer’s joy, because these guys just don’t give a damn about people touching them. Their fearlessness stems from the fact that they’re highly poisonous. Hell, if people developed painful puncture wounds just from touching me, I’d be fearless, too.
Strange Bedfellows
Luminescently Beautiful
I love these guys. They almost glow purple underwater.
Grouchy trout (cod?)

The Albino Shark
Remember the albino shark I was telling everyone about? Well, here it is. He was just sitting there. And yes, he is pure white.
Up close with the albino shark
One day, I’ll be a superstar
An odd splash of colour
I have no idea what this is. I’m guessing some kind of slug? It looks vaguely like candy, though (everything looks like food to me).
I am spiky
This is the last photo of the set. It’s a tiny shrimp/crayfish thing, with mean-looking spikes all over. Or at least it would be mean-looking if it were big - this guy was about the size of a finger. Oh well.
Hope ya’ll enjoyed the photos. There’ll be more to come in future, as I go on more dive trips. Stay tuned!
