Jack Thompson Compares Sony to Pearl Harbor

Posted by Ray @ 9:09 pm

Today is the day the GTA cop-killer trial, Strickland v. Sony, begins. John B. Thompson (a.k.a. Jack Thompson) is representing the plaintiffs, who seek to hold Sony & Take Two (amongst others) responsible for the murder of two police officers and a dispatcher.

In his latest public appearance, Jack Thompson angrily berated Sony for disallowing the sale of GTA in Japan, but allowing it in the United States. And then he follows it up with a humdinger of an accusation:

Oh, and certain regional governments in Japan have banned the sale of the Grand Theft Auto games to minors, but Japan’s Sony has no problem whatsoever dumping this garbage into American kids’ brains. Looks like Pearl Harbor 2 by Sony/Take-Two… [emphasis added]

The folks over at gamepolitics decided to give Jack the benefit of the doubt and got him to clarify the matter. Surely Jack Thompson didn’t mean to compare the sale of a videogame to the mass murder and destruction of a surprise attack?

GP: Jack - Some readers are taking offense to the Pearl Harbor comments in your press release, and I have to say that it does read as a somewhat insensitive remark. Would you care to comment on that section or elaborate further on what you were trying to convey?

JT: Insensitive? What the Japanese are doing to our kids is insensitive and racist. The Japanese have for a very long time dumped pornography into this country in a fashion they would not tolerate in their own country. It is another version of Pearl Harbor.

Okay, so he meant every word.

(Incidentally, I don’t think Jack’s ever been to Japan, because the last time I was there, I saw fresh schoolgirl’s underwear, vaginas-in-a-can, monster pornography and various other sexual deviances… in vending machines.

And right beside them were “normal” vending machines, you know, with drinks and stuff.

Oh yeah, and I saw people reading porn on the bullet train. Interesting, to say the least. But I digress…)

What is it with this guy?

So anyway, here’s something amusing I found that’ll hopefully brighten your day. In or around the early 1990s, when Jack Thompson was up to his usual antics, a Florida Judge ordered Jack to undergo psychological testing.

He passed, and got compensated $20, 000. Ever since then he’s been going around quipping that he’s the only sane lawyer in Florida.

Dude… only crazy people go around clutching a piece of paper that says they’re sane… the rest of us don’t need one.

I sincerely hope the judge laughs you out of the courtroom.
