We Are Borg

A little bit of background before the eye-candy: Microsoft haters have, for a long time, compared the software giant to Star Trek’s Borg. The comparison is quite apt; like the Borg, Microsoft absorbs smaller software companies; like the Borg, Microsoft adds the smaller company’s assets to their own; like the Borg, all opposition is ruthlessly crushed.
Hell, even the Borg catchphrase, “Resistance is Futile”, seems like something Bill Gates would say.
It’s gotten to the extent that the icon that nerd-community-blog slashdot uses to represent the software giant is a photoshopped, Borg-ified Bill Gates, like so:
Funny, yes. Nerds everywhere cackled at their geeky wit. “Take that, Bill Gates!” they proudly proclaimed as they fiddled with their ‘nix systems…
