Whiskey works as a sore throat remedy

Got a pretty bad flu, courtesy of the new year. It came with dizziness, light headedness, a sorethroat, the works. By far the most annoying symptom is the sore throat; it hurts like hell to swallow, so I can’t eat or drink without discomfort; and I’m not allowed to eat all that unhealthy fried stuff that I love so much, etc.
An idea occurred to my fuzzy post-alcohol brain. Since all the bad guys are in my throat, and since alcohol kills bad guys, I’ll have some Johnny Johnnie Walker, which will kill all the bad guys!
Man, was I gone. But surprisingly, it worked.
I’m sure the water I drank and the hours I slept helped too, but the whiskey had a very fast effect on my ailing throat. Within hours it didn’t hurt anymore.
Now if only it got rid of the phlegm…
